Under the supervision of artistic director Andreas Cappello the Merano Music Festival quickly rose to great fame, making it a point of reference among Europe·s festivals... Keschtn Riggl – Chestnut fair 2008Place: Foiana and Tesimo This week our guests learn all there is to know about the chestnut's significance from woodland to kitchen. The chestnut was once part of local farming life. It was ground into flour and baked into chestnut bread. Old recipes from those days have been rediscovered, chestnut bread traditionally baked in old stone ovens, and farmers' wives at the market sell chestnut pasta and other chestnut treats. Chestnut walks, "Keschtnfestl" (chestnut party), talks and conducted tours all open our eyes to this special fruit. Culture, gastronomy and tradition meet in this special event. | |||||||||||||||||
